July 30th 2018 - Tollgate Canyon Fire
On Monday July 30, a wildfire tore through lower Forest Meadow, originating near the storage units and moving quickly east along I-80. Thanks to the quick response of firefighters, homeowners, and other first responders, no homes were damaged, and no injuries were reported.
The roads are open, but stay alert for falling rocks or debris in the road; mudslides and debris flows are likely in the steep burn areas if we receive heavy rain.
Please see our 'Safety' tab at the top of the website to access information about defensible space and other actions you can take to protect our neighborhood from wildfires.
Huge thanks to North Summit Fire Department, South Summit Fire Department, First Responders, and Volunteers. So many residents have shared their gratitude to the brave heroes who saved our homes and protected our community.
Tollgate Playground Project
Several residents are working to get a playground/community area created. This is proposed to happen exclusively through private funding. They are currently in the planning stages. CLICK HERE to view a two-page pdf of their three-phase proposal.
Round two of construction on I-80
Several board members met with project managers and UDOT representative about I-80 a in late February. The following are the latest details of the impact we can expect:
UDOT is reconstructing westbound I-80 between Silver Creek Junction and Wanship (milepost 148 to
155). Work will begin in April 2015 and will continue through fall 2015. This is the final phase of a two-part
project; crews reconstructed the eastbound lanes in 2014. Beginning on April 6, eastbound I-80 will be restricted to one lane while crews place concrete barrier along the route. All traffic will be shifted to the eastbound lanes in mid-April, reducing I-80 to one lane in each direction through fall 2015.
Exit 150 Closures
On On approximately April 13, the eastbound on- and off-ramps at Exit 150 (Tollgate/Promontory)
will close for up three days while crews complete barrier placement.
On approximately April 15 when westbound traffic is crossed over to eastbound lanes, the eastbound
on- and off-ramps at Exit 150 will reopen and the westbound onand off-ramps will close through fall 2015.
During all ramp closures, local residents and visitors will need to use interchanges at Wanship and Silver
Creek Junction (U.S. Highway 40) to access properties in the area. The speed limit will be reduced to 45
mph through the construction zone and size restrictions will be placed on trucks traveling through the area.
(Again, for residents only: Promontory is allowing use of the I-80 entrance through their development as an alternative West bound route. Note: this gate is only open from 6am till midnight and is only for residents and no their service providers or friends.)

The project to re-align Forest Meadow Rd will close Forest Meadow Rd from MONDAY, OCTOBER 6 through SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 30, 2014. Since the project includes a major re-alignment of the roadway, this closure will be mandatory and traffic will need to detour down Oil Well Rd to Tollgate Canyon Rd. We apologize for the inconvenience during construction, but the construction area is dangerous and we cannot allow any access during the project. We expect the project to be completed by December 1, 2014 and ready for regular traffic. For more information, please contact your area representatives.
January 21, 2014:
The board voted to disallow sledding on plowed roads. There have been too many near accidents in the past few years. No one wants to see a child’s life put at risk nor do we believe that anyone should to have to live with the ramifications of accidentally hitting a child. We ask you all to enjoy our neighborhood responsibly. Thank you.
April 23rd 2013:
The expansion of Bobcat Springs was approved to help create a fishing-friendly area for residents. This is all being done with private money. There's no cost to home owners. Look for work to take place this summer.
April 4th 2013:
The dumpsters have been moved back to the lower parking lot for the season.
March 1st 2013:
The new ranch Fabcebook page was launch. You can "Like" this page by going to www.facebook.com/pinemeadowranch. This is where we'll post news about the roads, water, ect. It's also a place for you to let your neighbors know of anything important, or just post a great photo from your deck. Enjoy.
February 5th 2013:
New ranch website got underway along with new efforts to keep owners as informed as possible. We look forward to growing this project with your support.
January 17th 2013:
Following a long period of winter drought, yesterday's storm brought 8" of light snow to the upper parts of the Ranch. Please be advised that with several storms approaching over the next week, full winter conditions will return to Tollgate Canyon. Two wheel drive vehicles are not appropriate and towing trailers of any size is not recommended.
If you are planning to use the ranch parking lots this winter, remember that snow vehicles, trailers, tracked vehicles etc should be parked in the upper lot. Please park in sensible rows to make space for everyone.
The lower lot at the gravel pit is for wheeled vehicles and we ask that they be moved at regular intervals so that Jody can maintain plowing in that lot. A vehicle that sits through several storms may well get plowed in if conditions get difficult.
The ranch lots at the bottom of the canyon are for short term use only and are not maintained in the winter. Vehicles or equipment left for extended periods are subject to towing at the owner's expense.
