Fire Restrictions, Conditions & Red Flag Warnings
August 13, 2025 8:42 AM (8/13/25) Red Flag Warning/Fire Weather Watch A Red Flag Warning will be in place for portions of Summit County from Noon to 9 PM on Wednesday, August 13, followed by a Fire Weather Watch for the entire county from Noon to 9 PM on Thursday, August 14.

Critical fire weather conditions are expected. Any new fire starts or existing fires may spread rapidly.

Scattered thunderstorms will form over the higher terrain of Utah during the afternoon through the evening. Given the extended period of very dry conditions with little to no rain, new wildfire starts are likely with any lightning. Gusty and erratic outflow winds up to 50 mph are possible.

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now or are imminent. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior.

A Fire Weather Watch means that there is a potential for critical fire weather conditions. A combination of lightning, dry fuel conditions, and gusty microburst winds may create favorable conditions for new fire starts and extreme fire behavior.

Stage 2 Fire Restrictions
We urge all residents, contractors and visitors to exercise extreme caution during this period of Extreme Fire Danger. As of August 1, 2025, Stage 2 Fire Restrictions are in effect for all unincorporated and state lands in Summit County, as declared by Summit County on July 31, 2025.
🔥 Restrictions: No open fires of any kind – this includes campfires, charcoal grills, fire pits, and any outdoor burning. Devices using pressurized liquid or gas fuel (such as propane stoves, grills, and lanterns) are permitted only if equipped with a shut-off valve, used at least 3 feet away from flammable materials like dry grasses, and with water readily available to douse a fire. Stage 2 Fire Restrictions go into effect statewide on 8/1/25 for all unincorporated and state lands in Summit County.

As opposed to Stage 1 restrictions where fires are allowed in campground and picnic areas, now there should be NO OPEN FIRES OF ANY KIND on state and unincorporated lands.

All other Stage 1 restrictions remain in effect. For full details, visit utahfireinfo.gov.
🔧 Be Fire-Ready: Please ensure that working fire extinguishers and water are available and easily accessible at all: Construction sites Camp sites Cabins and homes Even one spark from generator, or power tool can ignite a wildfire in these dry grass conditions. Please inspect your property and equipment, and remind guests and contractors to be vigilant.
